Experience:

Mr Deepak Chitkara has established a reputation over the last 12 years as one of the leading refractive surgeons in the UK. He developed a passion for refractive surgery after completing his Fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery with distinction under Professor Marguerite McDonald in the USA in 1994/5.
He has trained in both the UK and USA and was a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Walton Hospital, Liverpool, from 1995 to 2001
Mr Chitkara is considered a pioneer of refractive surgery, being one of the first to undertake many refractive procedures such as Phakic implants and reading Implant surgery. His main interests are in the treatment of Presbyopia (reading glasses with age) and he was one of the first surgeons in the UK to investigate and develop Accommodative Implants for use in refractive lens surgery. He remains one of the most widely experienced refractive surgeons in the UK.
