Experience:

Mr Ammar Almasri is a specialist eye surgeon who has been qualified as a doctor for 20 years. Such is his experience and competence in refractive surgery he has been awarded the prestigious "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists after undergoing a rigorous assessment of his surgical skills. Holding such a certification means he is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon and one that you can be confident will provide you with the eye sight you have always wanted. There are only 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland who hold this certification and this is something he is especially proud of achieving.

Mr Ammar Almasri is extremely confident in both Lasek and Lasik with a very high visual success rate and very low retreatment rate (less than 1%). He has been performing laser eye surgery for the past 11 years and has already carried out over 18,000 procedures meaning he is very experienced.

Prior to becoming a refractive surgeon he worked as an Ophthalmologist in various renowned hospitals in the UK such as the Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. He also spent time working in the largest Ophthalmology centre in Syria, The Eyes Surgical Teaching Hospital, where he had the opportunity to work alongside some world acclaimed ophthalmologists, gaining invaluable experience in the process.

Mr Haralabos Eleftheriadis is regarded as an extremely experienced and respected ophthalmologist and as such has been recognised as a ‘Specialist in ophthalmology’ by the UKs General Medical Council. He is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon and one of only 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland to have been awarded the prestigious "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. This is a tribute to his high level of competence in this field and being certified in such a way means he can be trusted to perform laser eye surgery to the highest possible standard.

Mr Haralabos Eleftheriadis is an extremely experienced doctor having qualified over 20 years ago. Over the last 6 years alone he has performed over 9,500 laser eye surgery procedures in both Lasik and Lasek. Such is his confidence in laser eye surgery in 2003 he decided to have the treatment himself!

Mr Haralabos Eleftheriadis has worked extensively for the NHS and currently holds the position of Specialty Doctor for the Southend Hospital NHS Trust. He has also previously held an honorary position at the UK’s Moorfields eye hospital, the oldest centre for ophthalmic treatment, teaching and research in the world. He is also well regarded in academic circles having published and presented over 60 scientific papers in various conferences throughout the world.

Experience:

Mr Paul Cherry qualified as a doctor over 35 years ago and is now considered a specialist laser eye surgeon. He is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon and is one of only 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland to have been awarded the "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. This is a tribute to his competence and skill and such certification is only awarded following a rigorous assessment of his abilities as a refractive surgeon. He has carried out laser eye surgery with Ultralase for over years and has treated in excess of 15,000 patients.

Mr Paul Cherry has worked for many NHS hospitals and also has held various posts at well renowned academic centres throughout the world. Such institutions include The University of Harvard in the USA, the University of Toronto in Canada and The Moorfields Eye Hospital in the UK.

He is considered a world expert in the field of refractive surgery and has published over 110 academic papers to date. He has also given many presentations at prestigious conferences such as the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists Congress where he has shared his vast experience and knowledge with a wider audience.


Mr. Vinod Gupta

Mr Vinod Gupta is one of Ultralase’s and the UK’s most experienced laser eye surgeons and his career has seen him perform over 38,000 refractive procedures. Such is his respect amongst his peers; Mr Vinod Gupta has treated over 70 of his Ultralase colleagues and over 300 relatives and friends of Ultralase staff.

Mr Vinod Gupta is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon, proof of which is him attaining the "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Gaining this certification is an honour that only 54 other surgeons in the UK and Ireland have been skilled enough to receive.

Mr Vinod Gupta ophthalmological career has seen him hold various respected positions within NHS hospitals including senior consultant at the Kingston Hospital NHS Trust (previously called the Royal Eye Hospital). His reputation also led to him achieving the enviable position of Head of Ophthalmology at the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Such a position is saved for the very best in the field.


Mr. Sajjad Haider

Experience:

Mr Sajjad Haider is a very experienced doctor with over 30 years of medical experience. He is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon and is part of an elite group of 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland to have gained the "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

To date Mr Sajjad Haider has performed over 10,000 laser eye surgery procedures and he has gained a reputation as a highly skilled and reliable refractive surgeon.

Mr Sajjad Haider currently holds the position of Associate Specialist at the renowned University Hospital Birmingham, the leading University teaching hospital in the West Midlands. Previous to this he has also held medical positions at both the Leicester Royal Infirmary and the award winning Kings College Hospital in London.

He is also well known in the academic world having written and presented many papers in the field of refractive surgery.


Mr. Balasubramaniam Ilango

Experience:

Mr Balasubramaniam Ilango is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon and NHS consultant with over 15 years of medical experience. His excellence in laser eye surgery has led to him attaining the "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Such certification is extremely difficult to obtain, with only 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland currently in ownership.

Over the past 10 years Mr Balasubramaniam Ilango has performed in excess of 7,000 laser eye surgeries and over 10,000 cataract operations making him an extremely experienced surgeon.

Mr Balasubramaniam Ilango is currently an NHS consultant eye surgeon at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust. His distinguished medical career has also seen him hold the post of Director of the Primary Eye Care Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and also as a Fellow at world acclaimed Moorfields Eye Hospital.

He is also well known in the academic world having written and presented more than 40 scientific papers in the field of ophthalmology.


Mr. Sat Jalpota

Mr Sat Jalpota in an experienced laser eye surgeon with over 9 years experience. To date he has carried out over 5,000 laser eye surgery procedures including both Lasik and Lasik treatments. His skills as a refractive surgeon have been rewarded with him attaining the prestigious "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. As well as this, he holds the Specialist Certification in laser eye surgery from the University of Ulster.

Along with Ultralase, Mr Sat Jalpota works as an Associate Specialist in Ophthalmology at the well regarded Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle upon Tyne. Mr Jalpota also furthered his ophthalmological experience when he spent time training at the world renowned Moorfields eye hospital.


Mr. Joseph Karthikappallil

Mr Joseph Karthikappallil qualified as a medical doctor over 23 years ago and through hard work and commitment has now established himself as a highly competent laser eye surgeon. He is fully accredited, holding the Certification in Refractive Surgery qualification from the prestigious Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He holds this certification along with only 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland. Over the past 9 years Mr Joseph Karthikappallil has carried out over 12,000 laser eye surgeries meaning he has the experience to deliver visual results to a high standard.

Due to his experience and knowledge, Ultralase have appointed Mr Karthikappallil onto their Medical Advisory Committee which upholds the clinical standards the company expects.

Mr Joseph Karthikappallil has worked extensively for the NHS having previously held posts in the Royal Oldham Hospital, the West Cumberland Hospital and the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Bournemouth. His training also saw him gain valuable experience at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal Manchester Eye Hospital.

Mr Joseph Karthikappallil is also keen to share his knowledge with budding ophthalmologists by regularly giving presentations at major conferences around the world. He has also had many scientific papers published, a tribute to his reputation as a refractive surgeon.

Mr Mohammed Shabbar Kazmi has been a doctor for over 23 years and has held important positions at many respected NHS hospitals throughout the UK, such as Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Stirling Royal Infirmary and the Doncaster Royal Infirmary. He also gained invaluable experience working alongside some highly acclaimed ophthalmologists at the Almana Group of Hospitals in Saudi Arabia, an extremely large and prestigious group.


Mr. Graeme Mackintosh

Mr Graeme Mackintosh is a doctor with over 30 years of experience. His medical career has seen him reach the position of respected NHS consultant and specialist eye surgeon at the renowned Gloucestershire NHS Trust. His excellence as an ophthalmologist has been recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons for whom he now serves as a clinical examiner for surgeons.

Experience:

Mr Christopher Stephenson is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon holding the prestigious "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the prestigious Royal College of Ophthalmologists. This certification is only held by a select 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland and it is something he is immensely proud of.

Mr Christopher Stephenson has over 25 years of medical experience and has been an NHS consultant for over 12 years, performing 10,000 eye surgery treatments in the process. He currently holds the position of NHS Consultant Eye Surgeon at the Hinchingbrooke NHS Trust and Addenbrooke's NHS Trust in Cambridgeshire.

He also has an excellent reputation in the academic world having published in excess of 25 scientific papers. Many of his research papers have been written alongside Professor John Marshall, Professor of Ophthalmology at St Thomas' Hospital and widely regarded as one of the most influential doctors in the field of laser eye surgery.


Mr. Mark Wevill

As with all Ultralase surgeons, Mr Mark Wevill is fully accredited and holds the prestigious "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the prestigious Royal College of Ophthalmologists. As well as laser eye surgery Mr Mark Wevill is also highly competent in Intra-ocular and cataract surgery and has performed over 2,000 such procedures to date.

He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and is also a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology.

Mr Iqbal has been a qualified doctor for 23 yrs and has immense experience in the laser eye surgery field, performing more than 11,500 laser eye surgery treatments in the last 5 years. He has held senior posts within the University College Hospital in Cork, Galway hospital and East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust.

Mr Faisal Iqbal’s academic work has been published in the respected Irish Journal of Medical Sciences and he has presented it at the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and the British Society for Refractive Surgery. Mr David Jory has been a qualified doctor for 17 years and ensures others benefit from his years of experience in the field of laser eye surgery by presenting academic papers all over the world.

To date Mr Jory has performed more than 7,000 refractive surgery and is regarded as a specialist in a treatment that offers an alternative to reading glasses, known as Ultra-CK. Mr. Gerard Kervick

Mr Gerard Kervick was one of the first surgeons to perform laser eye treatment in the UK nearly a decade ago, giving him invaluable experience in laser eye surgery field. He is a well regarded NHS Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in the Mater hospital, Belfast as well as being Director of Ultralase Ireland. Mr Kervick was awarded a Fellowship in Refractive Eye Surgery at the University of Miami, which ranked top American hospital in a recent survey between doctors.

Mr Gerard Kervick has been a qualified doctor for more than 28 years and became a Consultant in 1991. He has supervised and trained many surgeons in the practice of refractive surgery over the years and has performed more than 15,000 laser procedures in his distinguished career. In addition to laser refractive surgery he is also a specialist in cataract extraction having performed more than 18,000 procedures to date.
