Dr Oelbrandt has had his private practice at Singelberg Clinic since 2005 and also works in the NHS system in Belgium. He started his training in Belgium; was a Registrar in General Surgery and then Plastic Surgery. In 2003 he spent two years as a Registrar in the UK and India including spells at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery at Broomfield Hospital in Essex and the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. Dr Oelbrandt has published several scientific articles in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
