Dr. Malcolm S Samuel

Experience:

Dr Malcolm S Samuel graduated as a doctor in 1982 from the Nishtar Medical College in Pakistan and went on to specialise in Ophthalmology at the Christian Hospital, Taxila.

In 1989 Dr Malcolm S Samuel relocated to the UK and continued to receive further training in Ophthalmology at various NHS hospitals. After much hard work and dedication he received the Fellowship in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1995.

Dr Malcolm S Samuel began performing laser eye surgery in 1999 and since then has performed over 14,000 procedures in all areas of refractive surgery including Lasik, Lasek and CK (treatment for near vision). Over the past 10 years he has gained valuable knowledge and skills in the refractive surgery field and he is very experienced in using all the different types of Excimer lasers for laser eye surgery. He is also extremely competent in both forms of Lasik: standard Lasik using Microkeratome (surgical blade) and Intralase using the Femtosecond laser.

Dr Malcolm S Samuel has a keen interest in teaching refractive surgery and for the past few years has been providing training for NHS Ophthalmologists. He is the course Director of York Refractive surgery courses highlighting his reputation in the field of refractive surgery.


Dr. Mohammad Ayoubi

Member: New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS).

Experience:

Dr Ayoubi qualified as a doctor from the Aleppo University in Syria in 1984. His hard work and endeavour saw him reach the position of Senior House Officer at the Aleppo Red Crescent Hospital where is he gained much valuable experience. Following this, he began a teaching post at the Aleppo Great University Hospital where he taught medical students for two years.

In 1990, Dr Ayoubi decided to relocate to the UK taking his first ophthalmic position at the East Glamorgan General Hospital where he gained experience in laser surgery, becoming competent in the use of both YAG and Argon lasers. He later went on to hold positions at Ipswich hospital, the St. Wooles Hospital in Gwent and The Royal Hospital in Chesterfield. Dr Ayoubi joined Optimax in 2001 where he has become a great addition to the team, successfully treating many satisfied patients.


Dr. Tahera Bhojani-Lynch

Experience:

Dr Bhojani-Lynch qualified as a doctor in 1989 following her graduation from Aberdeen University Medical School. Since graduating, she embarked on a successful medical career within the NHS which spanned over 10 years.

Dr Bhojani-Lynch’s first post was at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Welwyn Garden City in the eye casualty and cataract assessment department. After a successful time here, she went onto hold a position of Senior House Officer at Worcester Eye Hospital. She gained valuable experience in corneal graft surgery and Glaucoma whilst working at the North Riding Infirmary in Middlesbrough. Dr Bhojani-Lynch then went on to take a position at one of the largest eye departments in the UK, the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. During her time at this prestigious teaching hospital she gained experience in many areas of ophthalmology including cornea, glaucoma and paediatric ophthalmology. She was also involved in teaching medical students and spent time researching a new class of Glaucoma drug.

Dr Bhojani-Lynch now has her own optometry practice in Chesham and combines this with consultancy work for the pharmaceutical industry and laser eye surgery for Optimax. She joined Optimax in 2000 and has since proved an invaluable member of our successful laser eye surgery team.


Dr. Wilbert Hoe

Experience:

Dr Wilbert Hoe graduated from the Rangoon medical in Myanmar in 1969 and worked for 10 years at the School of Preventative and Tropical Medicine in Rangoon. In 1980 he decided to relocate to the UK where he took his first post at the Cheltenham General Hospital. Dr Wilbert Hoe gained his Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) at the Royal College of Surgeons in 1983 and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 1987. His hard work and dedication saw him gain his fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) in 1990. Dr Wilbert Hoe began working for Optimax in 2002 and has carried out successful laser eye surgery on many satisfied patients. Alongside his work for Optimax, he also works as an Associate Specialist at the Corneo-Plastic Unit at East Grinstead hospital. His success has seen him remain in the prestigious position for over 10 years.


Dr. Imran Khurshid

Experience:

After graduating from the King Edward Medical College in Pakistan in 1979, Dr Imran Khurshid decided to move to the UK to continue his post graduate studies.

His early training saw him take positions as a full time resident ophthalmologist at Liverpool’s St Paul’s Eye Hospital and the Kent County Ophthalmic and Aural Hospital in Maidstone. Having achieved his ophthalmic qualifications (FRCOphth and FRCS) he went on to work for 4 years at the Kings Mill Hospital in Sutton in Ashfield and the Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury. During his time at these hospitals he held the position of Registrar in ophthalmology gaining valuable experience and skills in the process.

In 1989 Dr Imran Khurshid decided to move back to Pakistan and took the position of Senior Registrar at a state-of-the-art Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital. After 2 successful years here, he relocated again, this time to Saudi Arabia where he was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Almana General Hospital. Much of his work here was in the field of refractive surgery gaining him the reputation in Saudi Arabia as a pioneer in laser eye surgery.

Such is his regard in this field that he has played a big role in training ophthalmologists in Saudi Arabia in refractive surgery. His excellent work at the Almana General hospital saw him promoted to head of the department where he led the team with enthusiasm and conviction.

Dr Imran Khurshid joined Optimax in 2008 and since then he has gained a reputation as an excellent laser eye surgeon with many satisfied patients.


Dr. Seethappa Madhusudhan

Experience:

Dr Seethappa Madhusudhan was educated in India and qualified from Bangalore medical college in 1988. In 1989 he joined the Minto Regional Institute of Ophthalmology as a postgraduate, gaining experience in a cross section of different ophthalmological disciplines such as cataracts, glaucoma and corneal transplants.

Having achieved his post graduate degree in ophthalmology (MS Ophth) from Bangalore University in 1993, Dr Madhusudhan then went on to take the position of registrar at the Chabbra Eye Clinic in New Delhi.

A year later he relocated to the UK where he worked as a registrar at the Whipps Cross Hospital and King’s College Hospital, both in London. Whilst working here, he passed his primary and final FRCS exams at the Royal College of Surgeons. After a spell in
America where he worked as a as a Clinical Fellow in neuro-ophthalmology at the Michigan State University, he started working for Optimax in 2000. He has proved to be a highly skilled laser eye surgeon with particular expertise in treating high and mixed astigmatism prescriptions.


Dr. Anand Masilamani

Qualification:

Member: European and United Kingdom Society of Refractive Surgeons.

Experience:

Dr Anand Masilamani graduated from the Stanley Medical College in Madras, India in 1994 and through much hard work and commitment received his diploma in ophthalmology (DO) in 1998. After his post graduate residency, he relocated to the UK in 1998 to further his medical training. Dr Anand Masilamani worked as a senior house officer (SHO) in various NHS hospitals including the Victoria hospital in Blackpool, where he trained in the phacoemulsification of cataracts and corneal grafting procedures. He was also fortunate enough to gain valuable experience in laser treatments, learning how to use both the ARGON and the Nd: YAG lasers.

In 2003, Dr Anand Masilamani joined Optimax, where he is considered one of the best laser eye surgeons in the company. He specialises in Lasik and especially Intralase Lasik where he has successful treated many satisfied patients. Such is his reputation in this field that he actually trains NHS ophthalmologists in laser eye surgery


Dr. Sajjad Mughal

Experience:

Dr Sajjad Mughal qualified as doctor in 1992 from the Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee. He began his ophthalmic training in 1994 and through much hard work and commitment, attained his Diploma and Membership in Ophthalmology.

During a 3 and half year position as a Senior House Officer and 18 months as a specialist registrar, Dr Sajjad Mughal gained invaluable experience in many areas of ophthalmology including cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment. During his years as a Clinical Assistant in Ophthalmology, he gained experience in the use of Argon and Nd: Yag lasers in the treatment of various ophthalmic diseases.

Having completed the Online Refractive Surgery Programme with distinction in June 2006, he began working for Optimax in 2007 as a laser eye surgeon. He has proved to be an excellent refractive surgeon and is currently performing Lasik, Lasek and CK treatment (for near vision).
