Botox Prices
Botox is a popular non-surgical treatment that is used to treat various conditions such as headaches and excessive sweating. It is however its cosmetic benefits that it is more widely known for as it can significantly improve the appearance of wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet. Botox works by blocking the nerve impulses that cause wrinkle-causing muscle contractions. By relaxing certain muscles within the face such as the frown muscle, the associated lines and wrinkles can be reduced.

How much does Botox cost?
As with most things in life there is a wide range in the price you can expect to pay for Botox injections. Starting prices for Botox can be as little as £100 but some clinics will charge up to £350 for the same procedure. Clinics generally charge on a 'per area' basis e.g. treating crow’s feet around the eyes but some clinics may charge on a 'per unit' basis. This is something you will need to check with the clinic when discussing the likely cost of your treatment.
How many units of Botox are required for treatment?
Certain parts of the face and neck are likely to require more units of Botox to achieve the desired results and this is generally reflected in the price. So even if a clinic charges on a ‘per area basis’ you are still effectively paying for the amount of units of Botox that will be needed, as they will charge more for areas that require more units. The following gives an idea of the amount of units required to treat certain areas of the face:- Glabellar area: This is the area between your inner brows and depending on the extent of the wrinkles between 20 and 30 units will be required.
- Crow’s feet: These relates to the lines that develop on the outer part of your eyes and they normally require about 10 – 15 units of Botox.
- Frown lines of forehead: 10 – 20 units of Botox will normally be required to treat this area.
Other factors that affect Botox price:
There are various factors that affect the cost of Botox treatment and they are as follows:- Number of areas that need treating: As you would expect the more areas that you want treating the more you will have to pay. Most clinics will do special offers for multiple ‘areas’. For example they may charge £200 for one area but 3 areas will only cost £450.
- Which area needs treating: Prices will be higher for areas that require more units of Botox. This will be discussed during your initial consultation.
- The dose required: Clinics who charge on a per unit basis will charge more if the extent of the wrinkles / lines require more units of Botox.
- Who is carrying out the treatment: You do not have to be a qualified doctor to inject Botox and people without medical degrees are likely to charge less. Botox technicians generally have no medical training and it therefore follows that they will charge less to administer the Botox injections. Doctors have a greater knowledge of facial muscle anatomy meaning they are better equipped to deal with any potential complications should they arise. - Location: The price of Botox is likely to be higher in bigger cities such as London compared with smaller towns. The reason for this is that rental prices for premises are likely to be higher in such cities.
- Reputation: A clinic or doctor with a good reputation is likely to charge higher rates.
As you can see there are many factors that influence the price of Botox and these are all things that you will need to consider. Be wary of clinics who offer extremely cheap Botox and if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is! Remember Botox is not something that should be trivialised. Botox injections are effectively delivering a toxin into your skin and you shouldn’t necessarily choose the cheapest option.
