Why go abroad for treatment ?

The first question one should ask is why not go abroad for medical treatment!? Thousands of other people like you have already had successful treatment abroad and thousands more will do it this year.

The main reasons to seek medical treatment abroad are:

• Cost: For the majority of people this is the number one reason. • Waiting list times: This is often a problem in Canada and more so in the UK where patients are entitled to free universal healthcare. Although waiting times are improving, for many they can be frustratingly long. Those who want treatment quickly may be forced to consider private healthcare which may be too expensive in their own country.

• Infection Control eg. MRSA: (Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus) The killer super bug which is frequently reported by the media is a big problem in British National Health Service (NHS) hospitals but it is not as prevalent in hospitals overseas.

• The experience:  For some people the chance to get away and experience the history and culture of another country may mean they get more out of their visit than just the treatment itself.
