Q.

Would laser eye surgery eliminate need for glasses

I have -8.50 and -8.25 distance vision and I need a +2.25 reading addition and a +1.50 intermediate addition. I am trying multifocal contacts at the mo, and have been told thats as good as it gets, but it really isnt good enough vision for driving or watching TV. What are the chances of laser surgery eliminating the need for me to wear glasses?

Laser eye surgery can treat up to -12.00 Dioptres so you are certainly within the treatable range. If you are keen to free yourself of glasses/contact lenses completely then your best option is probably Monovision laser eye surgery. Monovision effectively corrects one eye for distance vision and the other for reading vision. Although this sounds dramatic most people adapt to it extremely well. The other common option is to have both eyes lasered to correct for distance vision and then use reading glasses as required for close tasks.
