which treatment ?
I had my consultation with Optical Express and I have been told that I am suitable to have any laser treatment that I like. I do not know which one to choose, which one is better Standart or Wavefrontand what is the difference between them?
By zaneta on 27th Sep 2010Hi Zaneta. Can I ask what your prescription is and do you know if you have large pupils or not? Was this mentioned in the consultation? Wavefront is definitely better than standard treatment as it produces a more accurate result meaning you have a higher chance of achieving 20:20 vision. It also reduces the risk of any night vision problems following surgery which is another of its main advantages. You need to weigh up whether or not you can afford the additional expense as many people who have standard treatment still end up with perfect vision. If you can afford to have wavefront then it is definitely your best option. Any further questions please ask them on this forum.
By Tim from TreatmentSaver.com on 28th Sep 2010My prescription is -2.5 rigth eye and -2.0 left eye. They didn't mention the size of my pupils. I have only been told that my eye isn't of the same shape all around and that with wavefront I might even atchieve a 20/15 vision. Do you think that it is worth doing the wavefront instead of standart?
By zaneta on 28th Sep 2010If you can afford wavefront then it is definitely recommended as it will give you a higher chance of achieving 20:20 vision. If your pupils are large then it is even more advisable. Your prescription is only low so you would expect the results to be accurate anyway, even if you have standard treatment. If you can afford wavefront then you should definitely go for it but you shouldn't feel pressured if it is out of your budget.
By Tim from TreatmentSaver.com on 28th Sep 2010Is it possible to achieve better vision then 20/20? This is what I have been told on my consultation, that I might achieve 20/15 vision.
By zaneta on 28th Sep 2010Yes it is possible to achieve better than 20:20 vision. What you need to realise is that when you have your eyes tested at the opticians, the 20:20 vision line is not the very bottom line on the chart. The 20:20 line is normally the second from bottom and is what the average adult should be able to see with glasses or contact lenses. There is a good chance that you will achieve better than 20:20 vision following wavefront laser eye surgery although this is not guaranteed.
