Short sight/long sight - Laser eye surgery

My mum has had laser eye surgery as she could not see far. She also had a slight problem seeing things up close. After she had her surgery so she can see far things this has made the short sight worse and cannot read the things she could before. Will this stay like this or should it get better? She had her surgery 2 days ago.

If your mother is over the age of 45 years old and her distance vision has been corrected then it is likely that she will now need glasses for reading. If you mother had laser eye surgery which corrects both her distance and reading vision such as monovision laser eye surgery or laser blended vision, then her reading vision is likely to improve.

She already needed reading glasses before doing her laser but now it seems more worse than it was before her surgery. She only got the laser eye correction so she can see far.
I know she will still need them - but like before with her contacts on she could read the textes on her phone by moving it a bit further away. But now she cant read them at all and the vision up close is much much worse than it was before.

It does make sense but is difficult to give an accurate answer without knowing all the details about your mothers prescription. Given it is only 2 days post surgery it may be best to wait to see if things settle down. If you are concerned, you should bring your after-care appointment forward.

Ye i suppose your right. Its only been 2 days so we should give it a week. We got the 1 week post op appointment next weekend. By then i hope we see some improvement as she is really stressed out at how bad it has gone.

If it is really stressing your mother out you should at the very least phone the clinic to ask their advice on whether or not you need to come in sooner.
