Q.

Newest improvements in eye correction?

My friend told me that his friend said somewhere in the world they've almost perfected eye correction. He said they surgically implant a lense into your eye. I wanted to know more about this. Is it DMEK or DSAEK? Or is it new gene therapy? I'm trying to avoid LASIK due to all the issues with pupil size (getting it wrong, they dilate) and blurriness/night vision. TIA

Hi Eric

They already can surgically implant lenses into your eyes and you can read about these techniques at the following links:

Refractive lens exchange

Implantable contact lenses

With regards to laser eye surgery and night vision problems with the advancements in wavefront technology and the improvement of the lasers, this is now less of a problem. Most people have little or no night vision problems following laser eye surgery although this is something you should discuss with your surgeon during a laser eye surgery consultation.
