ICL lenses

I know that the prescription of the lense will vary .But is there different dimensional sizes of the lense that is inserted. and which are the best make of ICL lense to have.

Hi Jim, Yes, ICLs come in different dimensions based on the diameter of the corneas (typically white to white diameter is used, meaning the edge of the white on one side to the opposite point just where the white begins again). The most recognised and used make is from Staar Surgical. An issue with ICLs is the potential risk to rubbing the inner surface of the cornea, removing what are known as endothelial cells. These cells are not replaced and perform a vital role in keeping the cornea clear. It is recommended to have annual endothelial cell count scans to ensure they are not being affected and rubbed off by the ICL. Cost each year for such a scan would be £130-150 (in London).
