"Halos" with IOL surgery
Hi,
I am considering IOL surgery and have been told I am suitable. I now wear contact lens during the day but suffer with the "Halos" effects with car headlights and lights at night, hence have to drive with my glasses on. My work as a police officer envoles a lot of driving at night and I am concerned that should I have the IOL surgery I may still suffer with Halos and I would struggle with night vision. Are the implant lens better now and if I do get Halos, can anything be done to reduce the effects?
Many thanks,
Ian.
Hi Ian. Can I ask what the reason is you are having IOL surgery rather than laser eye surgery? Is it because your prescription is too high? If so what is your exact prescription? IOLS have certainly improved dramatically over the years and one of the main improvements is in the amount of night vision problems that they can cause. Normally during an IOL consultation they measure your night vision aberrations to see how bad they are. Do you know if they measured these? The fact that you don’t get night vision problems with your glasses is a good sign. You may have the night vision problems with your contact lenses as they are not to your exact prescription? It can be difficult to answer with confidence without knowing all the details. Did you specifically mentions your concerns about night vision issues during your consultation if not I suggest you ask them about it. Any further questions please ask them on this forum.
