Q.

considering laser eye surgery

I am 39 & was wondering if it's worth getting it done or am I too old? I've had to wear glasses since I was 4 or 5 years old. I have astigmatism. My right eye is: sph - 1.00, cyl - 2.75, axis 95; left eye: sph - 0.75, cyl - 1.75, axis 80. The provider I am considering is Optical Express.

Hi Charlotte,

You are absolutely not too old to have laser eye surgery as there is no upper age limit. People have laser eye surgery well into their 70's so age should definitely not put you off! You need to realise however that if you have laser eye surgery now you are likely to start needing reading glasses once you reach the age of about 45 years old. Your distance vision will still remain perfect meaning you will not require glasses for driving, tv walking around etc. This needing of reading glasses with age will occur regardless of whether you have laser eye surgery or not. You can read more about this at the following link: Presbyopia.

Feel free to ask another question in the forum if you have any.
